Escape From The Scorching Heat : Things to Do in Shimla This Summer!

What’s up guys! This is your blogger, Gopal Garg. Travel bug bit me real hard and I was bent on enjoying some cool holidays in the mountains. Therefore, recently I made plans about visiting Shimla along with my friends. Fortunately, most of my friends are in Jaipur, which is my home town. Being an insurance agent by profession, I have developed the ability to convince people about the plans I produce before them. With the same skills, I convinced three of my friends about the Shimla trip in the coming summer days!

Ready for Shimla

Since Jaipur gets too hot during the scorching summer days, Shimla was an obvious choice for me. No wonder it is known as the Summer Capital of India! Moreover, there are plenty of things to do in Shimla, and the average temperature of this city hardly exceeds 20 degree C even during the summer days. Since it is the capital of Himachal Pradesh, therefore reaching there will not be an issue for us.

Like I mentioned above, one can check out a lot of attractions in Shimla, and I am definitely looking forward for some overnight camping experience. What I figured out through an hour of research is that couple camping is a must thing to do for the newlyweds. Since I am not married yet, so, overnight camping is what that grabbed my attention. But, if you want to experience luxury in the woods then luxury camping in Mashobra will be an apt option to consider I think.

I hope camping would turn out to be a good experience for my friends too. I believe outdoor sports would allow the adventure junkie inside me to come out and breathe some fresh air of Shimla. From whatever I came across in the web world, it seems pretty sure that Shimla is going to be one of my best trips.

Well, the reason behind are the plenty of adventurous and outdoor sports activities available, such as- the bamboo bridge, dashing cars, horse riding, sky winger, etc. Most of them are available at Kufri, which is just 17 kms far from Shimla. Apart from them, rappelling is also among the major activities to do in Shimla.

At Dhali, you can participate in this activity, which usually comprise of little less than an hour I think. With so much excitement in mind and heart, I and my friends are all prepared to explore Shimla this year.

Enjoy the Melody of Gushing Water at the Dassam Falls in Jharkhand

After visiting the famous Tagore hill in Ranchi I wanted to wish a place with natural beauty. The Tagore hill is a cultural heritage for the city as it holds memorabilia of the famed poet and writer Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. He spent a couple of years of his life at the Shantidham that is built at the top of the Tagore hill. The location of this attraction is mesmerising as it is surrounded with plush greenery and serene environs. Now the next place that I visited in Ranchi was the Dassam falls.

It is one of the most popular waterfalls in the state. Jharkhand is a state of waterfalls as it holds a number of other ravishing waterfalls as well. This waterfall is located in proximity to the Taimara village that comes under the Bundu Police station in Ranchi, Jharkhand.  The place is well connected to all parts of the city and can be commuted via public transport. This waterfall emerges from the Subarnarekha River which is a tributary to the river Kanchi that flows across Jharkhand.

The height of the Dassam falls is around 44 metres. It is a breathtaking experience to watch the water pouring from such great height with immense force. The site is very popular among nature lovers and Argonauts. The sound of water from this natural cascade gushing down the hills echoes all around the region.

The untainted and clean waters of the waterfall are very alluring to tourists. Many vacationers take a dip in the waters to enjoy its purity. However they are constantly warned not to get into the water as the currents are powerful enough to drown even good swimmers. Unfortunately there have been a couple of mishaps and even deaths due to drowning in the water of this cascade.

There are also a couple of eateries in the vicinity where visitors can enjoy snacks and beverages. Picnickers come to enjoy at this site in large volumes. I had a really nice and rejuvenating experience at the Dassam falls in Ranchi. The sound of pouring water from such elevation still echo in my ears and the beauty and thrill that one feels at this site are difficult to define verbally.

Experience Nature in All Its Glory at the Rock Garden in Jharkhand

The Jagannath temple that I visited earlier is one of the best archaeological monuments in the country. Depicting the architectural style of the Jagannath temple located in Pune this replica is considered as an equally pious shrine for devout Hindus.  Hereafter it was time for me to spend some time in the arms of Mother Nature at the Rock garden in Jharkhand.  I am a nature lover and hence love to visit places that display the splendour and glory of nature in the form of variety of flora and fauna. The greens always act as my recluse from the busy and hectic life in the grey cities.

Considered as one of the most preferred destination for tourists from all around the globe the Rock garden is located in Ranchi and is easily commutable via public transport from all parts of the city. The garden lies at a distance of merely 4 kilometres from the Albert Akka Chowk which is a prominent landmark of Ranchi. After the famous garden of Jaipur it is recognized as the second most prominent garden in India. This garden is built by carving and chiselling the Gonda Hills.

Visitors can walk on a jhula that is made up of iron and is located in this garden. The serenity and scenic beauty of this place is a driving factor for nature lovers. There are a variety of sculptures and beautiful waterfalls that appeal to the senses of tourists who come to visit this garden. You can find nature at its best at the Rock garden of Ranchi.

One can also enjoy the gentle touch of nature at the lake of Kanke Dam that is located in the vicinity of this renowned attraction. The garden’s location acts as an incentive for travellers visiting the city. It is centrally located in Ranchi and is in close proximity to several other places of tourist interest in the city. Hence tourists frequenting the Rock garden can also stop by at other such attractions.

I had a very nice time at this site. My mind and body were rejuvenated by the beauty and grandeur of nature. The calmness of this place makes one forget all the worries of his daily life.

Krushnai Water Park has an area reserved just for children. The young children are treated to a pirate themed island filled with short and long water slides. It is a completely safe area where both children and their parents can play and dance. My friends and I relived our childhood in this area.

However, what Krushnai Water Park is known for is the ‘wave pool’. We got the full sea experience the moment we stepped into the wave pool. The DJ kept the dancing mood up with fresh tracks. We also enjoyed the rain dance which added to the fun vibes of the water park.

The Snacks Counter at the Krushnai Water Park serves many cuisines. The visitors can choose from a variety of Indian and Chinese dishes and snacks. The finger foods and beverages help to keep the energy level alive so that the visitors can enjoy the dance and fun for as long as possible. One can order for a ‘thali’ too if you need a proper meal. We ordered Samosa and Neembu Paani that seemed like the most refreshing items after 2 hours of full energy water rides.

Overall, offers fun at affordable prices and takes very good care of safety as well. One can go here with family and friends to have a day filled with aqua fun. The area reserved for children ensures safety. The snacks counter takes care of hungry stomachs. Visting Krushnai Water Park was a memorable experience.

Adventure at Tulsi Baug : Historic & Amazing!

In my hunt for all the historic places in Maharashtra, my next stop was Tulsi Baug, Pune. Although, I have never visited Pune before, but it felt like my home back in Jaipur! Sturdy roads, some big buildings accompanied by slum areas, it certainly had a touch of Jaipur.

My bus arrived at Swargate Bus Stand at 9 am in the morning. I boarded a yellow rickshaw from the bus stop to the nearest hotel and took a room there. Being a guy who loves to read about historic places, I had certain ideas about the place I was scheduled to visit. My hotel was on Bajirao Road that is just one km away from Tulsi Baug, so I decided to walk rather than taking any public transport service.

On my way, I tried the famous Sujata Mastani’s ice cream that is very famous in Pune. It was very creamy and delicious, but it filled my stomach up to my throat. It was a little expensive but complete worth of money. After walking one km and making eye contact with a lot of students I finally reached the famous Tulsi Baug.

I was already familiar with the reason behind the name of Tulsi Baug. It gets its name from a famous temple of Lord Ram, Ganpati, and Shankar. Outside the temple, there was a market of handmade pottery, bangles, flowers, jewelry, etc. I bought some bangles for my mother from this market.

The historic beauty of this temple was mindboggling; statues of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxmana had unique features proving them to be at least 250 years old. The temple also had statues of Ganpati and Parvati which were decorated by ornaments of gold and silver.

The architectural features of this temple were also eye-catching. I stayed there for 4 hours and took more than 70 photographs of that temple and its historical artifacts including the woodwork, stonework and lime stucco work. It was so elegant and supremely mesmerizing. It was a tiring day that ended as I took my way back to the hotel room to sleep.
